Warren Urges White House To Move On Overtime

The Labor Department should move ahead with its overtime rule, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) said in a letter to the White House this week. She urged President Obama to “pay particular attention” to public comments submitted by workers and their families, rather than allowing their pleas to be “buried beneath a flood of comments from lobbyists and lawyers.” The administration is considering a rule that would allow workers making up to $50,440 annually to be eligible for overtime. The current ceiling is an annual salary of $23,660. According to a report Warren also released this week, workers would see an additional $1.4 billion in wages in the first year of the bill going into effect.
