Top Law Schools For Hollywood Power Lawyers

It’s probably too late for you, but tell your kids that if they want to forget all that depressing stuff about the climate and instead mingle with the stars and make big deals in Hollywood they should apply to the UCLA School of Law. It tops the Hollywood Reporter’s list of the top schools for show biz power lawyers with 20 alumni who’ve reached legal superstardom, and no wonder. “Nestled minutes from some of Hollywood’s biggest studios,”  the school offers hands-on learning through its Ziffren Center for Media, Entertainment, Technology and Sports Law (named for Power Lawyer Ken Ziffren). Alum Jason Sloane praises the seminar opportunities the school offers with entertainment lawyers, and calls that type of access invaluable. Big surprise for the number two school – Harvard Law, which boasts 19 superstarlawyers, possibly because its program offers the Harvard Journal of Sports and Entertainment Law and a law clinic that provides legal aid to artists and indie labels. LA-based Southwestern Law School makes the list as the first school to establish a Master of Laws degree in entertainment law, and offers a clinic sponsored by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association that trains students to help creatives through pro bono representation. Like the school itself, its alums are said to be “scrappy.”
