The National Hockey League’s Boston Bruins have a team-building practice many workplaces could consider: They’ve banned the word “rookie” to keep locker-room talk, and maybe its ambiance, from separating new, young talent from seasoned veterans. Making sure new recruits understand they’re a welcome part of the team boost performance overall, Captain Zdeno Chara told the Boston Globe.
