In Texas BigLaw, Women Lag In Promotions

In a study of the 40 biggest law firms in the state, Texas Lawbook found that over the last three years nearly half promoted no women to partner, or just one woman to partner. So far this year, 16 of the top 40 firms have not promoted a woman to partner, and another dozen firms advanced only one. In total, of the just over 400 lawyers promoted to partner between 2012 and 2014, only 133 were women. It’s not a “pipeline” problem, as 40 percent of law school graduates are now women, and the percent of graduating women joining law firms – 60 percent – is now equal to that of men.
