Standing while doing desk work is known to get the blood pumping and put some stress on a few normally quiescent muscle groups, and almost nobody argues that’s not good. But a study out of Texas A&M, published in a journal called “IIE Transactions on Occupational Ergonomics and Human Factors,” finds another benefit to standing while at work: higher “productivity.” A lot higher, it turned out, at least as measured by the success rate of the one particular occupational niche that was being studied.
