Sirius XM Settles With Unpaid Interns For $1.3M

Sirius XM Radio Inc. has agreed to pay as much as $1.3 million to settle litigation by some 1,800 ex-interns. It is the latest settlement in a wave of class litigation over unpaid internships at major corporations. The suit, filed in Manhattan alleged that interns worked up to 40 hours per week for nothing, contrary to the requirements of the federal Fair Labor Standards Act and state minimum wage law. The Sirius settlement must still be approved by a judge before it is final.
