Protecting the Company Against Malicious Insiders

Among recent breaches that have made headlines, several have involved “malicious insiders.” It’s an ongoing problem. Privacy and information governance consultant Lisa J. Berry-Tayman, writing in Today’s General Counsel, says the key to addressing it is to look at airport security as a model. From the very beginning of the relationship with both employees and contractors, regard them in the same way that airport security treats travelers, as a potential threat, and understand that the most effective way to address that threat is with an approach that’s “layered.”
