Hackers Gets Scammed By Security Firm

It was a variation on the CEO phishing fraud, which, according to a Florida security firm, is currently a major crime wave: In what appears to be an email from another executive, someone in the company gets a request or “order” to transfer funds. It’s a ploy that can garner a skilled operator hundreds of thousands of dollars a month, according to the security firm, KnowBe4, which has set up “honey-pot” sites designed to attract it. In this case, the firm was able to trick the scammers into providing information that allowed it to determine an IP address,which the firm says should be enough to establish geographical location. It has turned the information over to law enforcement.
