Expected Uptick In Worker Pay This Year

U.S. workers will get pay increases of between two and three percent this year, according to Bloomberg BNA’s Wage Trend Indicator. This is more than in the previous two years, when according to Department of Labor statistics wage increases were less than two percent. The Bloomberg post notes that the unemployment rate, while continuing to drop, is still above the historical average and this is keeping pay increases to modest levels. The last time time wages went up more than 3 percent was in early 2008.
