Employer Sued After Worker Dies Using Bucket Provided As Toilet

When Andrew Lane went into the back of a work truck to use a bucket that his employer, Superior Home Maintenance, had provided as a toilet, he died of poisoning from carbon monoxide emitted by a pressure washer bolted to the truck’s floor. Lane was instructed by Superior not to use the bathrooms of clients’ homes, but the company’s solution was illegal, Lane’s family claims in a lawsuit seeking $4 million in damages. Superior has contested the cause of death, blaming Lane’s use of methamphetamine.
