Discrimination Suit Over Strength Requirement Settled

Trucking company Central Refrigerated Service has settled an age and sex discrimination suit with the EEOC, after workers claimed that women and those over 40 years old were adversely impacted by the company’s strength exam. The EEOC claimed that the exam tested for more strength than was required for the position, and that older applicants and women were not hired because of the exam. The three-year settlement stipulates that Central prevent the use of WorkWell strength exams as a condition of employment, and maintain its anti-discrimination policies.
