American Airlines, Pilot Union Near Deal For 23 Percent Raises

American Airlines and the union representing its pilots have approved a final contract that, if approved, would award the pilots a 23 percent wage hike over five years. However, the American Pilots Association said it was “disappointed,” saying some of the contract language is incomplete, specifically with regard to how pilots bid for domestic and international flights. American Airlines has said this contract represents its final offer, and if the pilots reject the deal, the process will move to arbitration in February.
