Fugitive Lawyer’s Clients Targeted In Scam

First, his clients watched Kentucky lawyer Eric Conn flee the country to avoid sentencing in a fraud scheme. Then they became the target of a scammer who told them they were entitled to $9,000 from a special “Eric Conn compensation fund,” but only if they paid $200 up front first. A lawyer for the former clients, Ned Pillersdorf, said many believe the scam is real because they do not understand that their identities are public knowledge. Conn is due to be sentenced for participating in a $550 million disability fraud scheme.
