Facebook: 14,000 Gov’t Requests For Data In 6 Months

In the second half of 2014, Facebook said it received more than 14,000 requests for data from U.S. law enforcement, and the tech giant produced “some data” for almost 80 percent of those requests. The number is down from the about 15,400 requests the Silicon Valley company fielded from U.S. law enforcement in the first half of 2014. More than half the requests were via search warrants, and about a third were submitted as subpoenas, Facebook reported, and information was requested from about 21,700 of the site’s users.
