Baseball Minor Leaguers Mount Employment Lawsuit

If you’re on the way up, it can be a track to the big time, but minor league baseball is no employment bonanza. Now three former minor league players seeking class action status are alleging violation of state and federal labor laws. Defendants in the federal lawsuit are Major League Baseball, the Office of the Commissioner, Commissioner Bud Selig, and three major league teams. The complaint details long hours, meager pay, one-sided contracts and a life so cash-strapped that some players end up rooming in a fan’s spare bedroom or garage.
