Unions Donating To Centrist Republicans In 2014 Elections

A Republican group promoting pro-business candidates over Tea Party hopefuls has received most of  its funding from labor unions. Bloomberg, citing Federal Election Commission data, says that more than 90 percent of the $845,000 in donations raised by the Republican PAC Defending Main Street came from unions. Unions are traditionally strong Democratic supporters, but thus far in the 2014 election they are hedging their bets to some extent: Labor groups have given $17.5 million to Democrats and $2.4 million to Republicans.
