Lady Gaga Assistant’s Pay Claim Will Go To Jury

A federal judge will allow a jury to weigh in on a case pitting Lady Gaga against a former personal assistant who claims she’s owed overtime pay. Though the assistant was paid a $75,000 salary for the year she was employed by Gaga, she has sued under the Fair Labor Standards Act for time-and-a-half for all the hours she was on-call and restricted from personal time. The judge agreed with Gaga’s contention that the assistant is not owed overtime for hours spent outside of New York under state law, but said a jury should decide how much of her on-call time should be considered work.
