Bringing manufacturing jobs back to the United States, so-called “reshoring,” has been touted as a goal and is part of the Administration’s recovery plan. It is occurring on a small scale and some manufacturing trends, like “mass customization,” are working in its favor. But the reality is that bringing jobs back to the United States has proven difficult. What industries are prospects for change, and what would have to happen first?
