Yelp Lawsuit For $750K In Damages Goes To Court

One D.C. contractor will go to court next week, suing a woman who posted a Yelp review that he claims is false and misleading. He is asking for $750,000 in damages. The suit is part of a growing trend of businesses taking legal action against online reviews, saying false claims are allowed to live virtually forever and reach innumerable potential customers. The contractor, Christopher Dietz, says the Yelp review cost him $300,000 in business and has taken a personal toll. The review advised readers to “not put yourself through this nightmare of a contractor.”
