Yale Wins Rights To Van Gogh Painting

Yale University may keep a painting by Dutch artist Vincent Van Gogh after a U.S. appeals court upheld a lower court ruling this week. A great-grandson of a Russian art collector claimed rights to the painting, which was owned by his family but expropriated in 1918 by the Russian Bolshevik revolutionary government. The painting, an 1888 work titled “The Night Café,” has been at Yale since 1961.
