Yahoo Sues Former Worker Over CEO Biography

The tech giant is suing a former worker it claims was a source for reporter Nicholas Carlson, who wrote a biography about Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer. In the suit, Yahoo claims Cecile Lal, a former chief of staff to a senior vice president, breached contract and fiduciary duty of loyalty by leaking internal corporate transcripts to Carlson. “[A] former rogue employee breached and abused Yahoo’s trust and confidentiality and that of fellow employees and managers to further her own ends,” Yahoo wrote in its filing. “Lal was neither allowed within the lawful scope of her job, nor at any other time otherwise authorized by Yahoo to disclose the highly confidential and sensitive business information she provided to Nicholas Carlson, which he then published.”
