World Wrestling Entertainment is hopeful that 2017 will put an end to the latest class-action lawsuit brought by lawyer Konstantine Kyros, who has sued the company six times in recent years. Last month, WWE asked a U.S. District Court in Connecticut to dismiss the latest class-action suit, filed by more than 50 former wrestlers, claiming the company knew about, and covered up, potential neurological risks to its performers. That suit bears a striking resemblance to one filed against the National Football League – so much so that WWE lawyers claimed it “blatantly and shamelessly plagiarizes.” Kyros was admonished by Judge Vanessa Bryant, who is also overseeing the class-action, for his claims in two wrongful death suits that she dismissed last year. “Kyros’ unprovable claim that deceased and, in at least one case, cremated former wrestlers had CTE (chronic traumatic encephalopathy), ‘upon information and belief’ are highly unprofessional,” Bryant wrote. “These misleading, deceptive and baseless allegations are precisely the types of statements that many state bar associations have targeted in promulgating rules of professional conduct which demand that admitted attorneys speak with candor to the trier of fact.”
