More and more legal services are being delivered by process managers, technologists, data analysts, cyber-security experts, metric consultants and other non-lawyers, observes consultant Mark A. Cohen. What’s now going on in the legal industry, he says, is not unlike what has happened in healthcare, with a wide range of professionals and para-professionals performing services that were once handled by physicians. This underscores the need for lawyers to learn new skills, including technological, business process and project management skills, as well as the overarching “skill” of collaboration.
