Wealthy (?) Financier, Husband Of Pao, Fails With Bias Claim

A man described by the New York Times as a “former Wall Street wunderkind” had his discrimination claim against the co-op board of the famed Dakota building in Manhattan thrown out of court. Plaintiff Alphonse Fletcher Jr., who is black, has had a spectacular career as a fund manager but in recent years ran into financial trouble, and the co-op board says he was rejected in his bid to buy a $5.7 million apartment because of his financial situation. Fletcher maintained he had assets to sell and could have paid cash. Fletcher is married to Ellen Pao, who recently lost her gender discrimination case against Silicon Valley venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers.
