Walmart Sued For Locking Up African-American Beauty Products

A woman in Parris, CA, has filed a lawsuit after discovering that her local Walmart was putting specialty African-American beauty products behind lock and key. Plaintiff Essie Grundy was trying to buy a 49 cent comb for her daughter and found she would need clerk assistance in order to get it. Grundy is being represented by prominent civil rights attorney Gloria Allred, who said they are seeking an apology and an injunction to halt the practice. A Walmart spokesman said the company does not discriminate and that decisions to put certain products under tighter security are made at the individual stores, and they are based on data.
