Wal-Mart Spending Millions On Internal FCPA Investigations

Wal-Mart spent $282 million in its fiscal year 2014 on compliance and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act-related investigations,  and the company said in financial filings this week it expects to spend between $200 and $240 million on compliance enhancements and continued investigation activities in FY 2015. In 2011 Wal-Mart disclosed that it was under investigation for potential FCPA violations, and in April 2012 The New York Times detailed accounts of bribery payments made to Mexican officials. Wal-Mart responded by appointing a dedicated FCPA compliance director in Mexico as part of a global compliance review.
