Volkswagen Consumer Litigation Team Chosen

Veteran class action lawyer Elizabeth Cabraser will head up the 22-lawyer team representing thousands of consumers suing Volkswagen over its diesel emissions scandal. The German automaker evaded emissions requirements and misled regulators, and the consumers are suing for false promises of fuel efficiency in diesel cars. More than 100 lawyers pitched their services to U.S. District Court Judge Charles Breyer in San Francisco, who is overseeing the consolidation of about 500 lawsuits. Cabraser has played a leading role in more than a dozen other multi-district litigations, including the BP oil gulf spill. The Wall Street Journal lists the remaining lawyers who will make up Cabraser’s team.
