UVA Dean Sues Rolling Stone For Portrayal In Assault Article

University of Virginia Associate Dean Nicole Eramo is suing Rolling Stone, saying that in its since-retracted article on campus sexual assaults, the magazine portrayed her as “callous,” “indifferent,” and portrayed her as having “brushed off” students who claimed to be victims of sexual assault. The article described a woman’s story of being gang raped by members of a UVA fraternity, but after a Columbia Journalism School study found major flaws in the reporting, the magazine issued a retraction. That was after the report garnered world-wide attention, however. Eramo claims its portrayal of her as “the chief villain” was an act of malice.
