Union Support Up Sharply In New Gallop Poll

The public approval rate for unions has risen to 58 percent, a five percent increase in one year and a sharp increase from an all-time low approval rating of 48 percent in 2009. At the same time the percentage of Americans who think unions should have less influence has declined, down to 35 percent. The young adult age group, ages 18 to 34, were the most supportive of unions, and women were more supportive than men.
