Two EU Rulings Shake Cyber Landscape

A look at two recent ruling from the European Court of Justice. One negated a “safe harbor” provision for transferring data out of the EU, and it has received a good deal of attention. The second, which addressed a Hungarian property-related site that had passed on customer information to debt collectors, less so, but its implications are likely to be just as important, according to the authors of this post, which first appeared on GlobalReinsurance.com. One result, they write, is that U.S. Companies “must begin to ensure they comply with all 28 EU countries’ privacy and security regulations.”
