Two Dewey Execs Face Retrial

Two former Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP executives, whose first trial ended in a deadlock in October, will be retried, prosecutors told a judge. Defense attorneys said the retrial should be dismissed. The deadlocked trial led to criticism of Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. and his team. Some claimed an unnecessarily complex case as to the collapse of the former BigLaw giant was presented to an overwhelmed jury. Ex-executive director Stephen DiCarmine and former CFO Joel Sanders would be subject of the retrial, and the government is working to resolve the charges against the third defendant, former chairman Stephen Davis.
