Tweets Aren’t Subject To Fact Checking, Court Finds

A federal court ruling will keep the Ohio Elections Commission from enforcing a controversial state law that bans lying in political campaigns against an anti-tax group that made allegedly false statements in a series of tweets. The group, which had tried to sway its followers to support a charter amendment that would do away with a streetcar project by claiming it would divert money from the fire department, said that its free-speech rights were being violated. A federal judge agreed.
