Trump Skips Payments To Lawyers, Hundreds Of Others

There are more than 3,500 pending lawsuits against Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, and at least 60 of them concern bills that Trump and his businesses have not paid, often to small businesses or individual employees. In addition to the lawsuits, Trump’s companies have been cited for 24 violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act since 2005 for failing to pay overtime or minimum wage. A USA Today survey found more than 200 mechanic’s liens filed against Trump, his companies, or his properties since the 1980s. The breadth of the claims is so wide that it includes at least two law firms who helped defend Trump against unpaid wage lawsuits, only to find themselves shorted. In 2008, Morrison Cohen LLP alleged that Trump had not paid them nearly $500,000 in legal fees. Then, in 2012, Cook, Heyward, Lee, Hopper & Feehan sued for $94,511 in outstanding legal fees and costs. Both cases were settled out of court.
