Trump’s Sister Is A Tough Judge – A Real One

She has thrown out fishy plea deals, once called efforts by the feds to deport a former Mexican official unconstitutional and Kafkaesque, and is on record as saying she thinks sexual harassment law has gotten out of hand, turning flirtation into a crime. New York Times reporter Jason Horowitz profiles Judge Maryanne Trump Barry, who was appointed to the federal district court in New Jersey by Ronald Reagan in 1983 and to the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, where she now sits, by President Clinton. She supports her brother Donald, and once told a magazine that she always knew better than to try to compete with him because she knew she couldn’t win. A few years after Judge Barry made her comments about sexual harassment, Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor presented her with an award, named after Justice O’Connor, that Seton Hall University School of Law gives to women who excel in law and public service.
