Trump Legal Woes Follow Him To White House

President Donald Trump’s campaign committee is still spending heavily to defend against civil lawsuits related to his unconventional and controversial campaign for office, according to a Politico report. An analysis of FEC filings show the Trump campaign has paid out nearly $4 million in “legal consulting” and “legal fees,” – including $556,000 since Election Day –  a total that is more than twice as much as Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign spent on legal fees at this point in his first term. And, in some cases, the campaign has not yet made a publicly disclosed payment to law firms representing it, or paid months late, or paid in amounts that do not appear commensurate with the amount of work done by the law firms. The lawsuits allege assault, incitement, threats and other illegal behavior by the president, his supporters and staff.
