Trump Daughter In Shoe Infringement Litigation

Italian shoe maker Aquazzura Italia, SRL has sued Ivanka Trump and her company, IT Collection LLC, in the Southern District of New York, alleging infringement. The Italian company claims that Ivanka and company, along with one of their business partners, copied “nearly every detail of plaintiff’s well-known and coveted Wild Thing Shoe.” The Trump shoe is called the Hettie and sells for $145 online, while the Italian model sells for $785. The complaint alleges that other Trump shoes also copy Aquazzura models, although they are not cited in this action. “To the untrained eye, the shoes are all lacy, high-heeled sandals,” notes Joseph Marks, writing in Bloomberg BNA. Those who have an interest in viewing them, in color, and making the comparison themselves for whatever reason can do so by accessing the complaint.
