Trump Could Be Off Campaign Trail, On The Stand

The New York attorney general’s fraud lawsuit against Donald Trump’s real state school is set for trial. That sets the stage for an unprecedented event: the Republican presidential front-runner taking the stand while a national campaign is in full swing. Judge Cynthia Kern ruled in 2014 that Trump University never obtained licenses, and said Trump personally was responsible. The New York suit claims that Trump University defrauded students out of a collective $40 million. AG Eric Schneiderman is likely to call Trump to the stand during the trial, which may begin as early as this fall. The lawsuit in New York is similar to another, filed in California by former students, which claims Trump University used the billionaire businessman’s name to encourage students to enroll, paying thousands.
