“Towering” Lawyer From Paul Weiss Deflates Patriots

The official report concluding that “more likely than not” New England Patriots employees underinflated the AFC championship game football for the benefit of quarterback Tom Brady is being called “The Wells Report.” That’s attorney Theodore V. Wells, from the firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, who is one of three of the report’s authors and is described in a New York Times profile by Ben Protess as a “towering figure.” That’s in reference to his college football career as a lineman, but the now trim and dapper-appearing Wells also has reached remarkable heights in his 40-year legal career, becoming one of the most sought after attorneys in public corruption and insider trading cases.
