Tourism Lawsuits May Be Headed To Supreme Court

A question that has been the subject of a number of lawsuits challenging municipal tour guide regulations in historically rich cities like Savannah, Georgia, Charleston, South Carolina and Washington, DC may be headed for the Supreme Court. The lawsuits, many of which are being argued by lawyers from a libertarian-leaning non-profit law firm, argue that government licenses are should not be required for tour guides. Opponents say the testing measures involved in licensing help protect the hospitality industry, a major economic driver for many of the towns involved.
