Top Law Firms Turned Down Trump

Four top law firms turned down the opportunity to serve as outside counsel for President Donald Trump in navigating ongoing investigations into his campaign’s ties to Russia, according to a report from Yahoo News. Among the firms and lawyers that allegedly rebuffed expressions of interest from the White House are: Brendan Sullivan of Wiliams & Connolly; Ted Olson of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher; Paul Clement and Mark Filip of Kirkland & Elllis; and Robert Giuffra of Sullivan & Cromwell. “The concerns were, ‘The guy won’t pay and he won’t listen,’” one anonymous lawyer close to the White House told Yahoo. The president appointed Marc E. Kasowitz to lead his legal team. Kasowitz, a New York civil litigator who has represented Trump in multiple business and public relations cases, does not have a great deal of experience dealing with complex congressional and Justice Department investigations.
