Fifteen short and to-the- point predictions about the shape cybersecurity problems will take in 2016, compiled from more than a dozen vendors and analysts, Included on the list are new frontiers in extortion, with some insidious applications to “the Internet of Things,” and more fraudulent transactions using social media. Cyber-crime of all kinds promises to get more efficient, by way of its own parallel and increasingly sophisticated free market. As for retail credit card problems, expect point-of-sale fraud to wind down as chip technology becomes more pervasive, but watch for another kind of fraud to fill the space that it leaves.
