The Nastiest Cyber-Crime: Extortion

With the market for social security and credit card numbers “over saturated,” some criminals have turned to the insidious and more lucrative crime of cyber extortion. Victims have included “everything from police departments to Fortune 500 companies,” says a post from insurance broker William Gallager Associates, as it explains how it works and the woefully unpleasant range of choices a company has once its been hit.  It is an insurable risk. A kidnap, ransom, and extortion policy (KR&E) may cover it, depending on circumstances and how the policy is worded, but there are some other options.
