The Homeless Man and Harvard Law Grad

Two graduates from Harvard Law class of 1979 now live near one another in Washington, D.C.: Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, and Alfred Postell, a diagnosed schizophrenic who frequents the intersection of 17th and I streets and sometimes sleeps in a church. Postell holds degrees in economics, accounting, and law. The Washington Post describes how, after the achievements piled up, Postell returned to the District, experienced a psychotic break into schizophrenia, and spent thirty years living with a local pastor. “I was beyond my useful life,” he said.
