Teens In “Slender Man” Attack To Be Tried As Adults

An appeals court has upheld a lower court determination that two girls who stabbed a friend in an attempted sacrifice to the fictional character “Slender Man” should be tried as adults. The Wisconsin girls were both 12 years old on May 31, 2014, when they lured a friend into the woods and stabbed her 19 times. The victim survived, and the girls are being charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide, which carries a potential sentence of 45 years in prison. Were they tried as minors, the maximum sentence would be three years behind bars and supervision until they turned 18. Slender Man is a fictional character popularized online, said to live in a mansion in the forest. The girls aimed to kill their friend in the hope that Slender Man would let them live in his forest home.
