Technology Backlash Brewing?

A woman wearing Google Glass precipitated a minor brawl in a San Francisco bar, in an incident that seems to embody a lot of current anxieties and preoccupations. At one point, the woman – a social media consultant from San Mateo – turned on the record function of her device, foolishly assuming, as Salon writer John Leonard notes, that would make people more likely to exercise restraint. Leonard puts his finger on why this story has gotten the buzz that it has, and why the woman wearing the glasses has become, for a short time anyway,  “the new face of the tech culture wars.”
