Target Reaches $67M Data Breach Settlement With Visa

The cost of Target Corp.’s massive 2013 data breach continues to rise, with the company this week agreeing to pay Visa $67 million. That comes on top of the $19 million settlement Target reached with MasterCard Inc. to settle lawsuits associated with the hack. Tens of millions of Target customers saw their data become vulnerable as a result of the breach, and in its aftermath several of Target’s executives resigned, including long-time CEO Gregg Steinhafel. The company has pledged to spend more than $100 million to better secure its systems.
