Survey: Firms Prioritizing, Spending On Cybersecurity

Corporate CIOs identified cybersecurity as their top spending priority, with 75 percent saying they would funnel more resources into efforts to stave off breaches, according to a Piper Jaffray survey. Security was also a top priority going into 2014 also, but only 59 percent of executives said then that they planned to spend more on the issue. After seeing Target, Home Depot, and Sony grapple with massive fallout from hacker attacks over the last year, however, many have decided that the time is now to take aggressive action. “CIOs clearly have heightened concerns from the many security breaches that occurred in 2014, resulting in an inflection in overall security spending,” the report said.
