Survey: Anti-Bribery Enforcement Is A World-Wide Trend

A compliance and anti-bribery organization, Trace, summarizes its 2013 Global Enforcement Report. It finds that the number of foreign bribery actions by countries other than the U.S. increased by 71 percent in 2013, as compared to 2012. Russia and Brazil are among the countries that have strengthened their anti-corruption laws. Moreover, so-called parallel prosecutions are on the rise. Companies targeted by the SEC and DOJ cannot assume that settling with these agencies will mean no further liability.
