Super Bowl Ring Among Damages Sought In Eli Manning Racketeering Lawsuit

A sports memorabilia collector who claims quarterback Eli Manning, along with the Giants general counsel and a team co-owner, were involved in a scheme to falsely label items as “game worn” is suing and seeking damages, punitive damages and attorneys fees, plus a 2007 Super Bowl ring. The civil racketeering lawsuit, filed in New Jersey, includes allegations of trade libel, misappropriation and tortious interference. The memorabilia seller/plaintiff was among six dealers charged with fraud in 2011 for selling bogus game-worn jerseys, but that suit was dropped after his lawyers contended that several witnesses, including some Giants employees, lied to federal agents and a grand jury.
