States: Anthem Data Breach Notifications To Customers Too Slow

Anthem’s delay in letting customers know that it suffered a massive data breach “is causing unnecessary added worry,” ten U.S. states said in a letter to the insurance giant. The letter, sent by Connecticut Attorney General George Jepsen, said the company should commit to reimbursing consumers for losses associated with the breach if those losses occur any time before the company provides access to credit and identity theft safeguards, It also asked Anthem to detail its plans for providing “adequate protections” to consumers whose data was compromised.
